Private ADHD assessments for children and young people.

We provide thorough, child-friendly ADHD assessments for children and young people. Appointments can take place face-to-face at our clinic or online for added flexibility, depending on what feels most comfortable for your family. To make things easier, we offer daytime, evening and weekend appointment options, so you can choose a time that best supports your child’s needs and routine.

A supportive, collaborative approach to understanding your child’s needs

Our child and adolescent ADHD assessments use recognised, evidence-based tools and a gentle, collaborative process. This usually includes input from you as parents or caregivers, your child, and—where appropriate—their school. Bringing these perspectives together helps us build a rounded, thoughtful understanding of your child’s experiences at home, in learning environments and socially.

During the assessment process, you and your child will meet with one of our specialist psychiatrists, supported by our experienced Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) practitioners. Together, they will explore your child’s developmental background, daily experiences, strengths, challenges, and any factors that may be influencing how they cope at home or in school.

Our clinicians work in a calm, compassionate way to help your child feel comfortable and understood throughout the process.

Clear, supportive feedback

At the end of the assessment process, your psychiatrist will talk you through their clinical understanding, explain the findings clearly and sensitively, and answer any questions you may have. They will also discuss supportive approaches that may be helpful for your child, along with guidance on next steps if further exploration would be beneficial.

You will receive a detailed written report summarising the assessment, the outcomes and recommendations. Families often use this report when seeking additional support in school, college or other settings.

Guidance tailored to your child and family

If your child would benefit from further support after the assessment, our team will talk you through possible pathways such as therapeutic approaches, family support options, lifestyle strategies or school-based adjustments. We focus on recommending support that aligns with your child’s unique strengths, needs and circumstances.

Our aim is always to help you feel informed, reassured and confident about how best to support your child going forward.

A compassionate environment for every family

We know that taking the first step toward understanding your child’s needs can feel overwhelming. Our team is committed to creating a calm, caring space where your child feels respected and supported, and where you feel fully informed at each stage of the journey.

If you’d like to talk through the process or ask any questions, our friendly team is here to help and guide you.

“Omg, I don’t know where I would be without beyond, my son had been on the waiting list with camhs since 2019, beyond confirmed what we already knew in a matter of weeks and now my son is getting the support he has deserved all along, there’s still along way to go but with beyond I know I’m not on my own and have felt that way for such a long time, the team is so professional, and friendly, so happy I chose to do this. Thanks so much for everything words can’t express the help and support you have provided.”

“From start to finish everyone has been lovely. I felt listened to and the whole process has been smooth. On the basis of my experience I would recommend them. Yes it’s expensive but the benefits of being on meds for me have been massive already. I feel I have a life back. I’m able to function better at work and my increased hours and productivity have paid for the initial expense.”

Why Beyond?

Why we're different

Online or in-clinic support in a way that works for you

You can choose to have your assessment online from the comfort of your own home, or visit us at our welcoming clinic in Warrington. Whichever you choose, you’ll receive the same high standard of care, attention, and access to our specialist clinical team.

Built from real experience

Beyond was created by people who have personally navigated the challenges surrounding ADHD. We understand how important it is to feel heard, supported, and treated with kindness. This lived experience shapes everything we do — from the time we give each person, to the way we explain things, to how we support you after your assessment.

A thoughtful and thorough assessment process

Many of us found that traditional assessment pathways didn’t offer the depth, time, or understanding we needed. That’s why we’ve developed a process that is more detailed, more reflective, and more focused on understanding the whole person. We take the time to explore your experiences fully, so you feel the process has truly captured your story.

Support Beyond the assessment

Once your assessment is complete, we continue to offer guidance to help you understand your report and explore what practical support may be helpful in school, work, or everyday life. Our team ensures you feel informed, reassured, and confident about the steps ahead.

Understanding
Childhood ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects children of all ages.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental presentation that can influence the way children focus, manage energy levels and respond to everyday situations. It can look different from one child to another, which is why understanding the unique ways it may show up is so important.

While every child is different, professionals often describe ADHD in three broad patterns to help families understand the behaviours they may be noticing:

Inattentive Presentation

Children who show more inattentive traits may find it harder to maintain focus or stay organised. They may appear easily distracted, have difficulty following instructions or seem to “drift off” during conversations or schoolwork.

Hyperactive / Impulsive Presentation

Some children show higher levels of energy or impulsivity. They may find it challenging to stay seated, wait their turn, or hold back from acting quickly in the moment. This can sometimes look like restlessness, interrupting or talking rapidly.

Combined Presentation

Many children experience a blend of both inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive traits. This can show up in a wide range of behaviours, depending on the child and their environment.

It’s important to remember that all children can show these behaviours at different times — especially when tired, excited or overwhelmed. What matters is how consistently these behaviours appear and how they affect daily life across settings such as home, school, friendships or hobbies.

The Impact on Children and Families

The examples highlighted above could relate to all children at some point in their lives. It is important when considering ADHD to consider expectations of normal childhood development.

For some children, these patterns can make certain situations feel more difficult and may affect confidence, emotional wellbeing or relationships. Families may also feel unsure how best to support their child, especially when behaviours are misunderstood or overlooked.

Our team recognises these challenges and works closely with families to provide a warm, gentle and supportive assessment experience. We take the time to understand your child’s strengths, their environment and the things that may be affecting how they cope day to day.

Working Together to Support Your Child

We are committed to offering a caring, structured process that helps you understand your child’s needs more clearly.

Our clinicians will guide you through each stage of the assessment, provide thoughtful feedback, and offer suggestions for supportive approaches that may be helpful for home or school.

Our aim is to help your child feel understood, valued and supported, while giving you the clarity and guidance you need as a parent or caregiver.

If you would like to talk about your concerns or understand the assessment process more fully, our friendly team is here to help and guide you.
